USW Local 13-1 Announcement
On Monday, April 22nd, after more than a month of negotiations, the Dow Chemical subsidiary in Deer Park, Texas locked out over 200 workers from the United Steelworkers Local 13-1.
To help families affected by this unjust lockout, we’re coordinating a donation drive. Families impacted by this lockout aren’t eligible for strike funds through their union, because the union is not on strike. These women and men want to return to a safe workplace, now.
In the meantime, they’ll need your help. We’ve partnered with the Texas Justice Center to create a donation drop off center for food items and other donations. We’ll be collecting the following items for affected families: food such as canned goods and other non-perishable items, diapers, baby wipes, toiletries such as soaps, shampoos, and toothpaste, toilet paper, and paper towels.
We would also like to ask you to make a direct contribution to USW 13-1’s efforts to help their members. They’ve established the USW 13-1 Dow Lockout Assistance Fund to help their members through this difficult time.
Please make checks payable to “USW 13-1 Dow Lockout Assistance Fund” and mail them to: 311 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, TX 77506.
Thank you for standing with hardworking Texans. Together, we can make a difference.
Please drop off donated items to the front desk at: 4900 Fournace Pl, Bellaire, TX 77401.
Please call 713-367-1754 for any assistance.
